Building Bridges: Learning from Duluth’s Experiences in Pursuing Community Based Diplomacy Thursday, April 23rd, 6PM MW Alworth Hall, 195 Community Engagement in U.S.-Russian Relations from the Cold War to Today. Dr. Doug Nord will discuss his new book that examines Duluth’s conduct of sister-city diplomacy over the past four decades, exploring how community engagement in international affairs was initiated and conducted and the lessons that can be learned from Duluth’s experience. Special attention will be paid to the linkages between Duluth and Petrozavodsk, Russia.

Postcards were the original selfie and even a form of social media back in the early 1900s. Gina Temple-Rhodes is a local history researcher, history nerd and former librarian.
