Creation Spirituality — A spiritual tradition that reconnects all the dots of everyday life in this generous, creative Universe. Creation Spirituality, with its emphasis on Original Blessing and the four paths of the Via Positiva, Via Negativa, Via Creativa and Via Transformativa, celebrates joy and our sensory/sensual experiences; honors grief, silence and darkness; awakens / acknowledges our creativity and inner artist; and calls us to social and ecological justice. CS provides a vocabulary for naming and framing our lives, and views our spiritual and earthly experiences as one, not as the “sacred and profane.” Drawing inspiration from the mystical traditions of world religions, wisdom of Indigenous peoples, insights from science and cosmology, and the real world experiences of all human and non-human beings, Creation Spirituality invites back into harmony all that has been alienated by dualistic, patriarchal religions and human institutions. When Peggy Trojan was seventy-seven years old, she took a poetry class for seniors. One assignment was “A day I will never forget." She wrote about the day when World War II ended, and it became her first published poem. Now ninety-three years old, she has continued to write poetry and is the award-winning author of two full collections and eight chapbooks. She will share her personal memories of World War II as an eight-to-twelve-year-old child in Brule, Wisconsin, and will read poetry from her first chapbook, Homefront. The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center welcomes local author Peggy Trojan to speak on Thursday, March 12th, from 6:30-7:30 PM. The talk is part of the Bong museum’s “Voices of Service & History” monthly speaker program. Peat Boggs is an eclectic quartet that plays an organic blend of groove, jazz, and twisted folk, shifting easily from smooth melodies to hints of doom and surf rock. Cole Webster shapes the band’s sound with gritty, expressive guitar. Ben Wagener holds down the low end with melodic, wigglin' bass lines. Chris Shea drives the groove on drums and all things rhythm. Charlie French delivers murky yet reflective lyricism that weaves seamlessly through the band’s lush arrangements. Special guest Pink Marlena will opening the show in celebration of Peat Boggs' album release!

Photography & Art at the Rock is a monthly exhibit at Split Rock Lighthouse highlighting local artists and photographers whose work celebrates the natural beauty of Minnesota’s North Shore — and beyond. For the month of March, we are proud to feature Aramis Wells, a self-taught photographer from southern Minnesota. Aramis’s work explores the space between earth and sky — from the intensity of fire scenes captured as a volunteer firefighter to the vastness of the stars rising over the shores of Lake Superior. His photography focuses primarily on landscapes and astrophotography, with an emphasis on celestial events such as the northern lights, eclipses, and the Milky Way. He enjoys pushing the limits of his gear, whether freezing the motion of the International Space Station overhead or creating long exposures that allow stars to paint trails across the night sky. Aramis’s creative home and greatest source of inspiration is Minnesota’s... |

Resilience isn’t something we’re born with — it’s something we build, moment by moment, as our bodies and minds learn to adapt, heal, and reorganize in the face of challenges we never asked for but survived anyway. Too often, we mistake resilience for grit or willpower, when it’s actually a dynamic interplay between our biology, our environment, and the meaning we make of our experiences. In this talk, I explore the neuroscience of how we rise after hardship, the protective factors that help us not just recover but truly evolve, and the stories that shape our capacity to grow. At its core, this is a conversation about reclaiming our ability to bend without breaking — and rebuilding ourselves with greater wisdom, compassion, and connection. Kelley J. Minor, LGSW, is a clinical therapist, educator, and founder of Curiosity Collaborative LLC, specializing in trauma-informed care, attachment healing, and the neuroscience of human...
