Maria and the Coins are an indie pop-rock band based in Minneapolis, MN. Over the last decade, the fivesome have released a tapestry of big-picture pop anthems, soulful ballads, and driving-with-the-windows-down-belt-your-heart-out bangers. One idea remains a constant through it all: reminding listeners to keep moving forward. Maria and the Coins have opened for Christina Perri, Jukebox the Ghost, Papa Roach and Haley Reinhart. They have been featured on American Songwriter, The Current, Jazz88, and KFAI. Their 2024 mental health anthem “Something Good” will be featured in the upcoming independent film “interiorem pueri” next spring.

Pottery & Pints at Ursa Minor Brewing is back this year on October 4th! The Lake Superior Ceramics Guild working will be selling handmade drinking vessels and each comes with a complimentary drink token. The funds raised go towards new pottery equipment at the Duluth Art Institute clay studio!! There will be pottery demonstrations on the wheel and you’ll have a chance to take it for a spin yourself! Emmy Woods (she/they) was born and raised on an old dirt road in rural North Dakota and currently resides in Saint Paul, MN. With hints of country, folk, and blues, Emmy’s songs showcase her knack for storytelling, her strengths in musical artistry, and her ethereal voice. Drawing on a range of influences including Billie Holiday, Emmylou Harris, & Against Me, Emmy has shared stages with such talents as Melissa Carper, Sarah Morris, Ryan Young of Trampled by Turtles, and Cam Whitcomb, to name a few. Emmy began writing at 13, however, her music remained unreleased and rarely performed until 2023, when she burst out of her living room and onto the Minnesota music scene with the release of 3 recorded collections. Rory Van James is a singer/songwriter from Duluth, MN. A former professional baseball player turned musician, Rory has carved out a unique voice through years of travel and performance. After debuting his first album The Passage, written in the solitude of Alaska and recorded in Seattle, he launched his ambitious double-vinyl project Sewn Silhouettes, recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and Sage Arts Studio in Washington, and released in 2020.
