Veterans Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, and the Lake Superior Railroad Museum announce their next event in the local history presentation series, History in a Pint. The presentation “Hold the Line”, will feature storyteller/author Darrell Pedersen, the 2024 winner of the Northeastern Minnesota Book Award for Best Memoir. His book, “Campfire in the Basement: Reflections from a North Woods Lake,” reflect his deep appreciation and love for the people, critters, lakes, swamps, and woods of Minnesota. His latest book, “Who Will Carry the Fire?” Pedersen celebrates the long line of people who have been a part of the network that has worked together to make possible and to care for the amazing country and world that we live in. He honors parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles – even ancient ancestors. He will center his talk around some of the Veterans’ stories from his family tree….
An original, family-friendly, contemporary and Yiddish dance production based on the children’s book by Eric Kimmel, and Trina Schart Hyman. A wandering trickster named Hershel saves a village in Ukraine from a pack of goblins who have taken over their synagogue and are preventing them from celebrating the holiday of Hanukkah. This production will run approximately 50 minutes and features a multi-generational cast and live music from Hershel’s Ostropoler Kapelye. Presented by Little Tanz Theater, directed and choreographed by Hannah MacKenzie-Margulies. Hannah MacKenzie-Margulies is a fiscal year 2025 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
