PARK POINT
Journey east beyond Canal Park and you’re treated to a serene side of Duluth, Minnesota Point. And at the very end of that – Park Point. A far cry from the rough and rugged Lake Superior coast, Park Point’s gentle sand is a welcome spot to swim, lay a towel and chill out. And while Duluth’s beach season is rather brief, the point is a laidback spot to visit any time of the year.
PARK POINT TRAIL
This 5.2-mile out-and-back trail weaves through Minnesota Point State Natural Area. You’ll also pass by the ruins of the Minnesota Point Lighthouse, which held the distinction of being the first lighthouse in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes.” Pro tip: long pants are recommended and staying on the trail is a must, as this path is known to have some serious poison ivy.
