The Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being at the University of Wisconsin-Superior will host University of California, Berkeley, professor of psychology Dacher Keltner for a free virtual presentation “Awe: Meeting the Crisis of our Times” on Tuesday, April 28, 4:30–6 pm. Awe is the feeling we experience when we encounter vast mysteries we don’t fully understand. We find awe in the eight wonders of life, from moral beauty to music to nature to spiritual epiphany. New research shows that even a brief dose of awe benefits our brains, hearts, and immune systems, counters selfishness and anxiety, and encourages greater sharing, creativity, and sense of common humanity.
