Flag Day Documentary at Marcus Duluth Cinema
Flag Day is a new feature-length documentary about the largest Flag Day parade in the United States and the community that has kept that tradition alive for more than seventy years. Filmed with verité intimacy, Flag Day follows eight intertwined lives across a single town, offering a ground-level portrait of community, connection, ritual and identity. Minnesota rock and roll band, putting their own spin on Americana. Blending their favorite elements of modern indie rock with the dusty sounds of your dad’s old record collection. At nearly 10 years as a band, the group has become experts at genre-hopping. Their newest record “Shotgun” is a true testament to that. The album is full of rock and roll and whimsy. Like the scatter of shotgun, on their third and fully self-produced record, Sleeping Jesus spreads themselves across multiple genres, from steel guitar filled shitt-kickin’ country, 70s reminiscent folk, and bouncy harmony filled indie rock.
