The Lake Superior Ice Festival is a vibrant, family-friendly celebration that brings together the entire community to embrace the magic of winter. Coordinated through the efforts of local organizations, volunteers, and partners, the festival showcases Superior’s unique charm and our shared love for the season. Our vision is to create an inclusive and welcoming experience that invites people of all ages and abilities to gather, explore, and enjoy the many wonders of winter in our beautiful lakeside city. From sparkling ice sculptures and outdoor activities to warm food and friendly faces, the Lake Superior Ice Festival is a joyful reminder of the resilience, creativity, and spirit that make Superior truly special. Get ready to buzz in for a great cause at the Duluth Library Foundation’s Books and Buzzers Bash! Join us for a fun-filled night of trivia, friendly competition, and game show excitement — all to support a much-needed update to the Downtown Library’s Children’s Section. Enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, a silent auction, and games during cocktail hour. Then, it’s table vs. table in smartphone trivia, a live auction, the Olga Walker Awards, and our headline event: Duluth Feud — a Family Feud-style showdown featuring local teams vying for glory in this live game show experience.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the tragic sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the Richard I Bong Veterans Historical Center will host a special evening program on Thursday November 13th featuring Great Lakes historian Ryan Mihalak and longtime Northland weatherman Dave Anderson. Great Lakes historian Ryan Mihalak will recount the story of the ship’s final voyage. Veteran meteorologist Dave Anderson will provide expert commentary on the weather systems that converged to create one of the most powerful and destructive storms in Lake Superior’s history —conditions that doomed even the most seasoned sailors.

Hosted at the UW-Superior Marcovich Wellness Center Field House, this exciting fun, non-competitive doubles tournament is open to players of all skill levels.
