Have you been wondering what youth mentoring is all about? Or maybe you’re ready to take the next step and become a mentor for a young person in the Twin Ports! Join us on Thursday, October 16th from 5:30pm-7:00pm at Dovetail Cafe and Market for our “Fall Into Mentoring” cozy happy hour event! You’ll have the chance to hear mentoring stories, listen to a Q&A panel of current mentors, learn how to get involved, and cozy up with food/drink. This event is open to the public and free to attend!
S.O.S! One in three women (or 30%) have experienced domestic violence within their lifetimes. Specifically in Wisconsin, it’s reported that every 4.3 days a life is lost due to domestic violence. We need awareness, support, and love/understanding more than ever! For S.OS. we will be having fundraising with vendors at KindredHeart between 2pm and 4pm, we will be having a march before 5pm (route to be determined), and from 5pm-6:30pm we will have resources at UWS in Swenson Hall, and a Speak Out in the auditorium at approximately 6:30pm. Inclusion Mobile Museum, Telling the Story of Civil Rights for a Forgotten Minority: People with Developmental Disabilities Exhibit Opens October 1, 2025 Open House: October 14, 2025 from 5pm – 6pm In observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the St. Louis County Historical Society (Society) is pleased to host the Minnesota Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities Inclusion Exhibit beginning October 1st on the second floor of the St. Louis County Depot (506 W Michigan St, Duluth, MN). The exhibit was developed in 2024 by the Minnesota Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities and is co-hosted by Udac, a Duluth nonprofit established in 1969 to support individuals with disabilities. Celebrating the journey to increase the independence, productivity, self-determination, integration, and inclusion of Minnesotans with developmental disabilities and their families. Join us for this FREE annual event in memory of loved ones lost to suicide and for awareness and education towards prevention. Pre-registration is not required. The walk will begin (registration at 9:30am, walk at 10am) and end at Carlton High School. Refreshments and a short educational/remembrance presentation will follow the walk by Paul Goossens and Rachel Goossens. Information on suicide awareness, education, and resources will be available, including short presentations by Charlie Health and the Human Development Center’s Mental Health Urgent Care. Participants may wear something with the name/picture of the person they are honoring the memory of (not required). This event is organized by the Carlton County Suicide Prevention Task Force and is not a fundraiser.
