Join us for the Pruitt Center Fall 2026 Virtual Speaker, Shawn Achor! Conventional wisdom holds that success is determined by talent, intelligence or the circumstances we happen to land in. After more than a decade of research at Harvard and work in 51 countries, Shawn Achor found that the greatest predictor of our future success is something else entirely: the set of beliefs we hold about the world around us. Beliefs are not passive. They shape what we notice, how we interpret setbacks, how much energy and persistence we bring to hard problems and whether we see a challenge as fixed or changeable. And because beliefs spread through teams the same way emotions do, a single person’s belief about what is possible can raise—or quietly cap—the ceiling for an entire organization. In his newest book, The Power of Beliefs, Shawn demonstrates that these beliefs are far more malleable than we…

A Peer-led gathering on Loss, Grief, & Belonging Paula Williams will hold the space for these peer-led gatherings. Paula is a long-time member of the Northland community having first come to the area in the late 90’s to live and work with the Loaves and Fishes community, then moving to a nearby farm in 2000 where she tried her hand as a flower farmer and hosted gatherings in the big red dairy barn. Motherhood settled her in to life in the country, until she moved back to Duluth in 2024. Paula has worked as a life coach for over 20 years, pivoting to therapy in May. She has been imagining this kind of monthly grief gathering for years and is grateful to Halcyon House for the opportunity to gather in its unique space. Free Event. If you pre-register, we can get an idea of the group size. Otherwise, drop in!

WW Norton author, and autistic individual, Sean Inderbitzen LCSW, DSW, invites neurodiverse Duluthians to wrestle with this question with him in a small gathering setting. Themes to be covered from his new book in this talk include identity, temperment, disorder, empathy, and the role of ambiguous loss in shaping connection and rigidity. These themes like these and more appear in his new book Neural Exercises for Autism, and we invite you to meet with the author partaking in discussion, pastries, and a dive into meaning and neurodiversity. Please register for our gathering complete with readings, discussion, pastries from Sara’s Table at Chester Creek Cafe, and Alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Support Regulation in Everyday Life Part 2 in a 2 part parenting workshop series designed and taught by Occupational Therapist, Sara Sheppard. Each workshop is unique and you can attend them individually or together. Have you ever wondered why one child craves movement while another avoids it? Why some children melt down over seemingly small things, or why certain strategies work one day and not the next? This interactive two-part workshop for parents explores how the nervous system shapes behavior, emotions, learning, and connection. Rather than focusing on “fixing” behaviors, we’ll discover how the body experiences safety, stress, and regulation—and why every nervous system is unique. Through hands-on activities, simple neuroscience, and real-life examples, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your own nervous system and learn practical ways to support your child’s regulation in everyday life. Whether your child is neurodivergent, highly sensitive, or simply experiences the world in their…
