Support Regulation in Everyday Life Part 2 in a 2 part parenting workshop series designed and taught by Occupational Therapist, Sara Sheppard. Each workshop is unique and you can attend them individually or together. Have you ever wondered why one child craves movement while another avoids it? Why some children melt down over seemingly small things, or why certain strategies work one day and not the next? Rather than focusing on “fixing” behaviors, we’ll discover how the body experiences safety, stress, and regulation—and why every nervous system is unique. Through hands-on activities, simple neuroscience, and real-life examples, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your own nervous system and learn practical ways to support your child’s regulation in everyday life. Junk journaling (or art journaling) is accessible to everyone, fun, a great way to upcycle materials you already have, and a way to let go of preconceived notions of any artistic outcome. This class is all about the journey. These two sessions are designed to be taken either together or individually. Participants in the first session will create their own unique junk journal. In the second session, participants will explore color and materials via some art exercises, then use those results to start embellishing their junk journals. Everyone is welcome—no prior journaling or art experience is necessary, and creating with friends, family, and/or loved ones works great. Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.
