Unbreaking’s Live Music & Crafts

Join us for an evening of creativity, connection, and relaxation as local musicians fill the space with gentle live music designed to be enjoyed rather than shouted over. This isn’t a loud concert, crowded bar, or high-energy venue. It’s a chance to slow down, settle in, and enjoy being around other people in a warm, welcoming environment. For this one, we’ve secured a band made of two cool cats, The Trash Cats, who specialize in playful banter, 90’s to current music, and the best free cat stickers in town. Bring your own craft project if you’d like. Knitting, crochet, embroidery, drawing, coloring, journaling, hand sewing, and other low-mess creative projects are all welcome. If you’d rather travel light, we’ll have supplies available including coloring pages, colored pencils, markers, yarn, crochet hooks, knitting needles, scissors, and simple beginner-friendly crafts. Gender Joy Art Show Opening Reception

The 3rd Annual Gender Joy Art Show is being held from May 4th to June 27th with an opening reception on Thursday, May 7th from 5-7pm. Organized by YWCA Duluth and PAVSA and exhibited in the Zeitgeist atrium and Teatro, this year’s show not only includes artwork from girls, women and gender expansive people but features survivor artwork from PAVSA’s weekly Art Group, all representing how each finds joy in their gender. Event attendees will get a chance to express themselves in an interactive community art project hosted by Art of Presence and will have an opportunity to heal through collective action and see their collaborative piece evolve into a finished painting displayed for the remainder of the show. Tales of ᏓᎦᏏ Dagsi Turtle & ᏥᏍᏚ Jisdu Wabbit

Presented by Duluth Public Libraries and Every Child Ready coalition as part of Family Fest. In this live performance, Dagsi Turtle & his sidekick Jisdu Wabbit race through time and space in a musical adventure into Cherokee Futurism. Hop aboard the Turtleship and join Dagsi and Jisdu’s quest to help Grandmother Turtle raise the Gadugi (spirit of cooperation) throughout the universe. Tales, a 2025 Jim Henson Foundation Family Theater Grant Awardee, features catchy original tunes and out-of-this-world puppet characters. The show is created and performed by Cherokee Nation citizen Chris Griffith and Shari Aronson, directed by Julie Boada (Anishinabe). Recommended for ages 4+. This activity made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

History in a Pint: 1000 Miles to Nome

Emily Ford is a winter adventurer and thru-hiker based in Duluth, Minnesota. She has completed many thru-hikes in the Midwest, including the 1,200 mile Ice Age Trail which crosses Wisconsin from Potawatomi State Park to St. Croix State Park on the Minnesota Border. In winter of 2022, she completed a solo 180-mile ski route across the Boundary Waters Canoe Area & Wilderness with er Alaskan Husky, Diggins. She now spends her winters running sled dogs in Alaska & Minnesota. In 2025, Emily finished the 1000-mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race from Anchorage to Nome. With an understanding and drive to show that anyone can adventure and everyone deserves to discover the outdoors, regardless of race, gender identity, or upbringing she continues to seek adventure and represent the underrepresented in outdoor spaces. Stop in early to grab some food and drink before the presentation starts at 7PM!

STAR TURTLE

Join the dynamic duo of of Dagsi Turtle & Jisdu Wabbit for a screening of their video adventures to race through time and space on a musical quest to help Grandmother Turtle! Dagsi Turtle & Jisu Wabbit will be live, in person to take viewers on this exuberant ride into Cherokee language and culture. Sing along and you, too, can help keep alive an Indigenous language! Geared to kids K-Grade 3, but all are welcome! Kids ages seven and under must be accompanied by a caregiver. STAR TURTLE was developed by Chris Griffith (Cherokee Nation, OK) and Shari Aronson.
