Ever wonder what makes a critique actually helpful? Join artist and educator Robb Quisling for a conversation about the purpose of critique, how it can strengthen your creative practice, and how to give and receive thoughtful, constructive feedback. Listen in while you work on your own creative projects in our multipurpose classroom space. Following the presentation, participants are invited to stay for an optional one-on-one critique with Robb to put these ideas into practice. This session is perfect for both developing and emerging artists. First Wednesdays is part of our regular Weekly Creative Studio program, offering additional artist resources, special guests, and professional development opportunities during open studio work time. The festival includes a variety of Scandinavian folk art, including rosemaling, carving, kolrosing, Hardanger, jewelry, woodenware, and knitting, alongside miscellaneous themed gifts. Visitors will experience music, folk art demonstrations, and traditional treats like lefse. This year’s festival will also include the work of several new vendors.

It is open to anyone in the Twin Ports area looking to work on sight-reading, ensemble and lead playing, and to meet other musicians of all skill levels. Explore your creativity in a laid-back atmosphere at the Duluth Public Library’s Teen Space. Bring your headphones and creative ideas — art supplies provided, but bringing your own is also welcome. Registration covers all 26 sessions, but attending every session is not necessary.
