Murder Mystery Express
Traveling by train can be fun, romantic, and sometimes dangerous. Take the case of the North Shore Scenic Railroadʹs Elegant Dinner Train. A group of people, most of whom are strangers to one another, sit down to a gourmet meal in the beautiful Lake of the Isles dining car. As the train pulls out of the Depot in Duluth and heads onto the Lakefront Line, the guests in the dining car meet one another and find that there is something just a little off balance. An air of mystery surrounds the alter‐egos of some of the passengers… Almost as if planned to the exact minute, the train crosses Railroad Street and the diesel engine’s horn blares out its warning…a shot rings out! The 2024 lineup is our BIGGEST yet, with 18 total groups (9 headliners and 9 openers). The event is free and open to the public from 5 to 8 pm. Gates open at 5 pm, however, for those interested, early access can be obtained by purchasing grounds admission or a tour. Each night, the opener will perform from 5:30-6 pm and the headliner will play from 6:30-8 pm. At Concerts, guests can connect with neighbors and friends, play lawn games, grab some grub from a local food truck, enjoy a refreshing drink, eat locally-made ice cream, and take a seat by the shores of Lake Superior. Bring your antique/collectible item for a free appraisal to the St. Louis County Depot at 506 West Michigan Street, Duluth, Minnesota. The St. Louis County Historical Society has arranged for Denny Mager of Northern Specialty, an expert in antique appraisal, to be at your service beginning at noon in the rotunda, which is on street level. Registration is in person only and cut-off at 2:30PM, so the appraiser can finish appraisals by 3PM. You may bring up to two items per person for an informal oral identification and evaluation of each antique.
