The Driftless Revelers | Live on the Cosmic Stage!
The Driftless Revelers | Live on the Cosmic Stage!
The Driftless Revelers formed in the second spring of the first global pandemic of the 21st century, with one ear turned toward the shellac platters and Victrola virtuosos of the early to mid 20th century, and the other ear glued to the soundscapes of the 1960's & 1970's American freak-folk scene. Since their debut tour in 2021, the band has billed with Grammy winning bluegrass legends like Tim O'Brien & the Gibson Brothers, toured extensively throughout the Upper Midwest performing with other amazing artists like Big Richard, Willy Tea Taylor, Davey Allen & the Midnights, and had breakout performances at several festivals and events (Sol Grass Music Festival, Mile of Music in Appleton, WI. featured in Rolling Stone Magazine). "Scrappy string-based freak-folk, featuring songs like 'Meat Raffle Mambo,' 'Wisconsin Saturday Nights' and 'Jesus Shaves' that both revere and good-naturedly poke fun at state culture -- may remind listeners of Lou...

Invasive Plants in My Backyard: A Linocut Art Exhibit by Monica Ihrke
Discover the tension of the beauty and ecological impact of invasive plant species through the captivating artwork of Duluth-based artist Monica Ihrke in her upcoming exhibition, "Invasive Plants in My Backyard," opening at Hartley Nature Center on May 16, 2025. Through the intricate technique of relief-printed linoleum, Ihrke meticulously captures the forms of invasive plants found in her own backyard, transforming these often-overlooked species into compelling works of art. This new body of work is the result of Ihrke's exploration supported by an Individual Artist Project Grant through the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council. Ihrke's artistic vision goes beyond mere observation. Her powerful prints aim to foster familiarity with local invasive plants and inspire tangible action within the community. By highlighting these species, Ihrke hopes to encourage residents to identify, remove, and replace them with native alternatives, contributing to the health and biodiversity of our local ecosystems. “This project is more...

Home, I’m Darling
Home, I’m Darling
Get ready for the Minnesota premiere of Home, I’m Darling, running May 23 - June 1, 2025 at the NorShor Theatre. This razor-sharp, Olivier Award-winning comedy by Laura Wade pulls back the gingham curtains on one couple’s seemingly perfect life. Life in their 1950s dream home is sweet, stylish, and carefully curated. There’s just one catch… it’s not actually the 1950s. As Judy and Johnny devote themselves to a lifestyle straight out of a vintage magazine – complete with deviled eggs, mid-century furniture, and picturesque domestic bliss – the cracks begin to show. This delightful yet dark comedy will have audiences laughing while reflecting on the complexities of relationships and the risks of longing for a bygone era in the modern world.

The non-motorized parade follows the Lakewalk to a smelt fry and dance party at the Zeitgeist Arts Cafe at 5 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in silver. Call 218-370-8980 to get involved.

MN Council of Teachers of Mathematics Spring Conference
MN Council of Teachers of Mathematics Spring Conference
The MCTM is an organization of professionals dedicated to promoting the teaching and learning of meaningful mathematics for all students by supporting educators in their efforts to improve mathematics instruction. In this effort, tools like the mean, median, and mode calculator can play a pivotal role in enhancing both the teaching and learning of key mathematical concepts. These tools simplify the process of calculating measures of central tendency, which are foundational in statistics and mathematics. For students, the ability to instantly compute the mean, median, and mode of a data set removes much of the frustration that can come from manual calculations, particularly when working with large or complex data sets. This allows students to focus on interpreting results and understanding how these measures reflect different aspects of data rather than getting bogged down in lengthy calculations. By streamlining this process, students can engage more deeply with the underlying concepts,...
