Join author Meg Gorzycki for a signing of her new book, Remember the Main: The Gay Bar that Started a Movement in the Northland. Remember the Main tells the story of a generation who found their cause and their community at Bob Jansens, The Main Club. Their activism bridged the gap between the relatively closeted culture of the 1950s and the open advocacy of the 1990s and 2000s. Although the 1969 Stonewall riots are a well-known turning point in the fight for equality, Remember the Main draws attention to a less dramatic but significant, sustained regional effort. Weaving together oral history, biography, and social critique, Meg Gorzycki chronicles the highs and lows of the local fight for human rights, legal protection, and health care for LGBTQ Americans. Meg Gorzycki is a historian, educator, community organizer, and author. She brought Bob Jansen’s insights to her work in the San Francisco Bay...

Singer, songwriter, guitarist, and "Boss Mama" Colleen Myhre has connected with a loose band of hard-rocking desperados and dubbed them the Jebberhooch. Meet Your Nervous System Part 1 in a 2-part parenting workshop series designed and taught by Occupational Therapist, Sara Sheppard. Each workshop is unique and you can attend them individually or together. Have you ever wondered why one child craves movement while another avoids it? Why some children melt down over seemingly small things, or why certain strategies work one day and not the next? This interactive two-part workshop for parents explores how the nervous system shapes behavior, emotions, learning, and connection. Rather than focusing on “fixing” behaviors, we’ll discover how the body experiences safety, stress, and regulation — and why every nervous system is unique. Through hands-on activities, simple neuroscience, and real-life examples, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your own nervous system and learn practical ways to support your child’s regulation in everyday life. Whether your child is neurodivergent, highly sensitive, or simply experiences the world in their...

August at the Rock is about scale, detail, and the art of seeing the landscape in full. We are proud to feature Ryan Cairl, a landscape photographer whose work is inspired by a lifelong connection to the outdoors and a desire to capture the same sense of wonder found in the places we explore. Ryan’s passion began early, shaped by family trips to national parks and the iconic imagery found in postcard scenes — moments that sparked a goal to create images that hold that same beauty and feeling. With a background in mechanical engineering, Ryan brings a technical approach to his craft, specializing in panoramic photography. By combining multiple images into a single, highly detailed composition, he creates photographs designed to be experienced at a larger scale — where every detail comes to life. His work invites viewers to step closer, take their time, and fully immerse themselves in...

ABOUT ALABAMA It’s the kind of story you read about in books and watch on the big screen at the movies. For the band ALABAMA, it’s not just a story, it’s their life. It’s a classic American tale of rags to riches. From humble beginnings picking cotton in the fields, to international stars that went on to sell millions of albums while changing the face and sound of country music. It’s been 50 years since Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentry and Randy Owen left the cotton farms of Fort Payne, Alabama, to spend the summer playing in a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina bar called The Bowery. Having grown up working in the fields, the cousins were no strangers to hard work. They didn’t flinch...
