A perfect summer day simply isn’t complete without ice cream! From classic scoops to elaborate malts, Duluth has something for all ice cream lovers to enjoy. Be sure to add some (or all!) of these ice cream shops to the itinerary for your next trip to Duluth.
Bridgeman’s – Founded in Duluth in 1883, Bridgeman’s ice cream is served around the Midwest, but the Duluth location is the only restaurant. Want ice cream for dinner? Why not! Overflowing with treats on top, the Mega Malts at Bridgeman’s are sure to fill you up. Can’t finish it all? No worries, take it to go as the souvenir mason jar is yours to keep. And if a Mega Malt isn’t in the cards, choose from over 15 flavors, included gluten free and dairy free options.
Burnett Dairy Duluth Cheese Store – An ice cream shop with a twist! This store opened in West Duluth in August 2024, providing a one-stop-shop to grab cheese, pizza, fried curds and of course, lots of ice cream.
Camp Creemee – Who doesn’t love a classic soft-serve ice cream cone? Located inside Wild State Cider in Lincoln Park, Camp Creemee offers rich, Vermont style soft serve that is sure to satisfy. Try the flagship Maple Creemee, made with Sawtooth Mountain Pure Maple Syrup.
Crank and Dasher – Small batch and made from scratch with pieces of house-made treats blended in. Choose a classic or get adventurous with a new flavor combo. Whether you put it in a dish or a cone, you can’t go wrong! Grab a scoop and explore all that the Fitger’s Courtyard has to offer. Coming soon: a second Crank and Dasher location will open in Lakeside next to Amity Coffee!
Grandma’s Boxcar – Open seasonally in the heart of Canal Park, grab a scoop as you watch ships come into the harbor under the Aerial Lift Bridge or take it to go as you stroll the Lakewalk.
King of Creams – What started as a single ice cream truck on the streets of Duluth now offers so much more! Stop by their Hillside location for an old fashioned malt, sundae, or scoop of one of many flavor offerings. And of course, grab a burger while you’re there!
Love Creamery – At Love Creamery, each unique flavor is hand-crafted in small batches to produce the perfect scoop. All ingredients are responsibly sourced to ensure their costumers get only the best for their palate and the planet. Gluten free and vegan options are available at both Canal Park and Lincoln Park locations. Can’t decide on just one flavor? Give the flight a try!
The PortLand Malt Shoppe – Built in 1921 as a gas station and converted to a malt shoppe in 1989, the PortLand Malt Shoppe is sure to impress and refresh – serving delicious malts at the walk-up window and beautiful views of Lake Superior and Canal Park.
The Scoop on 47th – Opened in June 2024, The Scoop on 47th offers various flavors of Kemps ice cream, coney dogs, candy and other snacks. While you’re there, check out its unique selection of antiques, DVDs, CDs and books left over from the former business, 8th Street Video & Ice Cream Station on 47th.
