Second Annual Dialogue in Action Series

Superior Street in Duluth, Minnesota, this event aims to foster dialogue and enhance understanding of critical social justice issues, building on the success of last year's inaugural series. This year's event features Dr. Jemar Tisby, a distinguished public historian, advocate for racial justice, and founder of The Witness, Inc. Dr. Tisby is a history professor at Simmons College of Kentucky. His insightful presentations, drawn from his acclaimed works, including 'The Color of Compromise' and 'How to Fight Racism,' inspire deep reflection and proactive steps toward societal change. From Spiritual to Spirituals: Music of Praise and Hope
First Lutheran Church 1100 E Superior St, Duluth, MNFeaturing guest soprano Hope Koehler (West Virginia University, American Spiritual Ensemble), the Arrowhead Chorale explores sacred music in a variety of expressions from early chant to Mozart’s majestic Coronation Mass K. 319 to Sanctus from Leonard Bernstein’s Mass. The focus will then shift to the American spiritual, a truly unique and powerful genre described as “breathing the prayer and complaint of souls boiling over with the bitterest anguish.”

First Lutheran Church 1100 E Superior St, Duluth, MNAudiences will experience new and traditional settings of Gloria, with carol settings old and new featuring works of Mozart, Wilberg, and – the centerpiece of the concert – John Rutter’s breathtaking Gloria. The Chorale will collaborate with organ, brass, orchestra, and the highly esteemed Strikepoint Handbell Ensemble to fill First Lutheran Church of Duluth with the glorious sounds of Christmas.
