Behold, The Picture Book! With Mac Barnett

Award-winning author Mac Barnett is excited to share his passion for picture books with children and adults. The tradition of the picture book is a tradition of experimentation, just like childhood itself. Every page turn contains infinite possibilities – a journey of discovery and connections. On his nationwide tour as National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, Mac invites readers of all ages to join him in celebrating what’s vibrant, joyful and inspiring about this quintessential American art form. Join us for this very special evening open to the public on Wednesday, May 20 at 6 pm at Mitchell Auditorium at The College of St. Scholastica. Books will be on sale and Mac will be available to sign copies following the program. Free tickets are available here. Advance registration is strongly encouraged, but not required.

March into Mentoring: Mentor Nomination Celebration

Each year we invite the whole Twin Ports community to March into Mentoring with us! The goal again this year is to nominate 100 caring adults who could show up for a youth in our community. We reach out to each nominee to celebrate them for being an incredible human in our community and invite them to learn more at our Celebration Event on Tuesday, March 24th. With OVER 70 youth currently waiting for a mentor, it’s time for us all to step up to make a real impact. The impact goes both ways, we know Mentoring 1 Youth, Changes 2 Lives! Anishinaabe Canoe Migration: Culture and Connection on the St. Louis River

What’s happening on the St. Louis River right now? Join us for our new River Revival event series, a monthly gathering to learn about the river, ongoing restoration at Wisconsin Point and Allouez Bay, and ways to connect with this special place. Hosted the third Thursday of the month April–September, each event features engaging presentations from local partners and knowledge holders. Attendees will also have the chance to enjoy hands-on creative activities, informal conversation, and opportunities to share their questions and perspectives. A River Resurgence: The Return of Manoomin

Join the St. Louis River Alliance and St. Louis River Area of Concern coordinators for an evening celebrating the recovery of manoomin (wild rice) in the St. Louis River Estuary. This free community event will take place Tuesday, April 7, from 5:30–7:30 PM at Clyde Iron Works, 2920 W. Michigan St., Duluth. Discover why manoomin is vital to the health of the river, what its return tells us about decades of restoration work, and what this progress means for the future of our community.
