He is interested in the sounds that are produced in nature and how they can be incorporated into music, and also in how the sounds of the industrialized world combine with and influence the natural world. He uses a digital field recorder as well as vintage tape equipment to document sounds he comes across in the woods or near rivers or lakes, brings them back into the studio, and treats them with an array of software and electronic sound processing devices to hone in on their inherent musical qualities. Using this method, he creates otherworldly, ethereal music that is often difficult to place into conventional genre labels. As a performing musician, he has played keyboards in various bands and collaborative projects around Duluth and the Twin Cities, favoring vintage analog synthesizers from the 70s and 80s...
