Plan Now For A Perfect Summer Night at Glensheen

Celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2026, the Concerts on the Pier series is a FREE event every Wednesday, July – August. Bring a lawn chair or explore the grounds to find the perfect spot to enjoy music by local favorites. Come by car, foot or watercraft – all people and ages are welcome! Food and beverages are available for purchase. The event is free and open to the public from 5:30 to 8 pm. Gates open at 5 pm, however, for those interested, early access can be obtained by purchasing grounds admission or a tour. Each night, the opener will perform from 5:30-6 pm and the headliner will play from 6:30-8 pm.

At Concerts, guests can connect with neighbors and friends, play lawn games, grab some grub from a local food truck, enjoy a refreshing drink, eat locally-made ice cream, and take a seat by the shores of Lake Superior. Guests are encouraged to paddle or boat in to view the concert from the water, or are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the show from the shore. For each concert this year, Glensheen will also offer a shuttle bus (with a suggested donation) between the UMD campus and Glensheen for each concert this year. Parking at UMD is free in White Lot W during the summer.

Parking

Walk, bike, kayak, boat, ride share, or shuttle to Glensheen! Please avoid driving here if you can. LIMITED parking is available onsite, so those who plan to drive should arrive early. Glensheen does have a limited number of dedicated accessible parking spots available on-site for those with valid credentials. If you are driving here and plan to park off-site, please be kind to our neighbors and follow the City of Duluth’s parking rules. Learn more about the use of non-motorized vehicles on the Event Information page.

Shuttle Bus

Each night of Concerts on the Pier, Glensheen will be running a FREE* shuttle bus from UMD’s White Lot W (see map image on the Event Information page) down to Glensheen and back. Parking in this lot is FREE. The bus will be running on a continuous loop to and from Glensheen and UMD’s White Lot W between 5PM (first pick up at UMD) and 8:30PM (last boarding at Glensheen at 8PM). Riders can expect the bus every 20-30 minutes (with the first bus departing close to 5 pm from UMD), depending on traffic. If you plan to ride the bus, Glensheen kindly asks that you donate $5 per rider to the Concerts on the Pier fund to help support the ongoing operations of our nonprofit museum. We will have QR codes to scan on the bus and a physical donation receptacle at Glensheen for those wishing to donate with cash. This is a great option for folks looking to get dropped off right by the front gate!
