Rich Mattson and the Northstars
Bent Paddle Brewing 1832 West Michigan Street, Duluth, MN, United StatesOver the course of his long and illustrious musical career sprouting from the same teal backwater as Bob Dylan on northern Minnesota’s Iron Range, Rich Mattson came up learning songs from John Denver to Van Halen with a little Elvis Costello and Neil Young tossed into the mix. Add in some heaping handfuls of U2, the Replacements, and CCR and blend until the ingredients come splattering in bits and pieces and you have around 500 tunes and this fella’s discography. Now residing in Sparta MN with his life and love partner Germaine Gemberling, the two have been writing, recording, and performing (among other things) together since 2010. The latest incarnation of the Northstars (with longtime drummer and cohort Keely Lane and bassist Kyle Westrick) features Duluth’s Dan Anderson on keys. Bent Paddle Brewing 1832 West Michigan Street, Duluth, MN, United StatesEmmy Woods (she/they) was born and raised on an old dirt road in rural North Dakota and currently resides in Saint Paul, MN. With hints of country, folk, and blues, Emmy’s songs showcase her knack for storytelling, her strengths in musical artistry, and her ethereal voice. Drawing on a range of influences including Billie Holiday, Emmylou Harris, & Against Me, Emmy has shared stages with such talents as Melissa Carper, Sarah Morris, Ryan Young of Trampled by Turtles, and Cam Whitcomb, to name a few. Emmy began writing at 13, however, her music remained unreleased and rarely performed until 2023, when she burst out of her living room and onto the Minnesota music scene with the release of 3 recorded collections. A former professional baseball player turned musician, Rory has carved out a unique voice through years of travel and performance. After debuting his first album The Passage, written in the solitude of Alaska and recorded in Seattle, he launched his ambitious double-vinyl project Sewn Silhouettes, recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and Sage Arts Studio in Washington, and released in 2020.

Maria and the Coins

Over the last decade, the fivesome have released a tapestry of big-picture pop anthems, soulful ballads, and driving-with-the-windows-down-belt-your-heart-out bangers. One idea remains a constant through it all: reminding listeners to keep moving forward. Maria and the Coins have opened for Christina Perri, Jukebox the Ghost, Papa Roach and Haley Reinhart. They have been featured on American Songwriter, The Current, Jazz88, and KFAI. Their 2024 mental health anthem “Something Good” will be featured in the upcoming independent film “interiorem pueri” next spring.
