MY DULUTH: Jonathan Thunder
capturing craziness on canvas
Jonathan Thunder believes artists glean inspiration from what’s important to them. For him, that means skateboard art, comic books, Mad Magazine and his Ojibwe-Anishinaabe heritage.
“Painting is working with light, much like cinematography is working with light. In order for there to be light, there has to be dark, right? Otherwise, it’s a flat surface. The same is true of color and content, so in my work, I like to work with dark tones, light tones, but I also work with desaturated colors and vivid hues, so that they play off each other.” – Jonathan
