Flock ArtFest
Flock Artfest will take over Bayfront Festival Park on August 21 and 22, bringing a vibrant weekend of art, creativity, and community to the shores of Lake Superior.
The two-day festival invites attendees to browse original work from a wide range of talented artists, watch live art being created, and take part in hands-on art classes and interactive experiences. Families are encouraged to attend, with activities for all ages, including a dedicated Kid Artist Tent designed to inspire young creatives.

Does your craft corner need a refresh? Swap your gently used arts and craft supplies! Donations of fine art supplies, fiber arts, paper crafts, pottery tools, printing supplies, instructional books, hand tools, organizers, and more will be collected in the weeks leading up to the event (locations TBD). ✨Lake Superior memories quilt with Sadie Ward:
Sadie Ward is a Minneapolis based textile artist. She prioritizes using upcycled, pre-used textiles to raise awareness of the environmental impact of textiles. Sadie will be kicking off her Superior Memories memory quilt at Duluth Flock ArtFest. Similar to her Mississippi Memories quilt, Sadie will gather memories written on textiles and stitched into a quilt the shape of Lake Superior. Sadie wants people to literally hold onto their memories of bodies of water in a world of climate instability and water insecurity. Please bring a memory of Lake Superior to add to the quilt.

✨David Sundaram (chalk artist, illustrator, and painter) will be onsite all weekend making chalk art at Bayfront
✨Puppet experience:
- Improvised puppetry from two puppeteers. People can choose from a menu of different interactions
- Learn What Bird You Are: Our puppets will tell you which bird you are most like based on a short series of questions.
- Life Advice From A Bird: Do you have any big or small decisions that you need to make? Ask a wise bird puppet for some advice!
- Compliments From A Bird: One of our bird puppets will shower you in compliments! Walk away feeling confident and loved!
- A Tarot Reading from a Bird: Using this Avian tarot deck, our puppets would provide people with a one-card tarot reading. People can choose to have a good puppet (supportive and kind) or a bad puppet (a little snarky and sassy) to read their tarot.
- Family puppet play area + wheel spin:
- Children and families can play with a variety of puppets in our community puppet booth. We will have a bucket with slips of paper in it for suggestions of scenes and ideas to get their creativity flowing.
- We will also have out a prize wheel that people can spin. Some prizes will include custom made buttons promoting art, finger puppets, candy, stickers, etc. We will donate all of these items
In addition to the art, guests can enjoy a variety of food trucks, beverages, and beer and wine offerings available throughout the event, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the waterfront atmosphere.
Flock Artfest runs Friday from 12:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Whether discovering a new favorite artist, creating something by hand, or simply soaking up the creative energy, there is something for everyone at Flock Artfest.
