The Christmas City of the North Parade: A Northland Holiday Tradition
Since 1958, the Christmas City of the North Parade has been a beloved holiday tradition and the most attended public event in the Northland. It’s a magical event that brings generations of families together with the joyful spirit of the season. Featuring dozens of festive floats, lively marching bands, exciting dance performances, and, of course, a special appearance by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, this Duluth parade is an unforgettable start to the holidays.
Parade Details & Logistics
- Parade Start Time: 6:30 PM
- Parade Route: The procession begins in front of the Fitger’s complex at Sixth Avenue East and Superior Street, and travels down Superior Street to Fourth Avenue West.
- Live Broadcast: Can’t make it in person? The parade is broadcast live on KBJR-TV (channel 6.1) and online.
Important Information for Participants & Spectators
- Parade Lineup: Units will begin lining up at 4pm on London Road between 10th and 14th Avenues East. Buses for participants will stage on the upper side of London Road from 14th to 17th Avenues East.
- Post-Parade: Marching bands and dance groups will exit the route at Fourth Avenue West to waiting buses on Michigan Street. Floats will dismantle on the 400 block of West Superior Street, exiting the area at Fifth Avenue West.
