The Boys Back Home was inspired by Lucky Chops\, Trombone Shorty\, and other Brass Bands that Thomas and his band mates enjoyed listening to and couldn’t help but play along with. \n4-13 Owl’s Club Big Band – The Owls Club Big Band hatched in 2017\, taking the name of their home nest\, The Owls Club. Fly on down to Bent Paddle for the 17-piece band playing swinging\, horn-driven dance music. The group explores big band jazz with the goal of being a hoot to hear. SUMMARY:The Trinkets + Mid Dream | Live on the Cosmic Stage!
DESCRIPTION:The Trinkets are an indie pop rock band from Duluth founded by Elsie Zimmerman (vocals/guitar) and April Dressel (drums). They’re inspired by the music of their parents’ generation like Green Day\, Weezer\, Nirvana\, and Radiohead\, but they are also students of modern artists such as Chapelle Roan\, Billie Eilish\, and Clairo. Although they are a new band\, they’ve played a fair share of shows around town\, including Spirit of the Times and Gag Me With a Spoon. They’ve been working on a debut EP\, and have recently released an original single\, Anabelle. \nFronted by vocalists Jenna Harting and Lisa Wentworth\, Mid Dream cranks out upbeat pop-punky anthems\, soul searching ballads\, and some things decidedly neither. With Rachel Riefenberg on drums\, Matt Prois on bass\, Alex Nelson on keys\, and Bryan Wentworth toeing the line between lead guitar and synthscape\, their tunes are filled with compelling textures and powerful harmonies. \nIn early 2024\, songwriters Jenna\, Rachel\, Bryan\, and Lisa (who also picks up rhythm guitar) started jamming in the Wentworth family basement. In the summer\, Alex answered a cryptic invitation and joined them. Matt wasn’t far behind. \nGet ready for your new favorite band!

SUMMARY:Rich Mattson and the Northstars Album Release Show! | Live on the Cosmic Stage!
DESCRIPTION:Wake Up Songs is the 7th offering from Rich Mattson and the Northstars\, an American Cosmic Rock band based in the nether regions (Iron Range) of northeast Minnesota (Sparta\, to be precise). The music explores the outer limits of their cosmic sound\, with exploding drums\, hypersonic guitars\, slippery bass syrup\, and soaring over the top of it\, as always\, the sweet harmonies of Rich Mattson and Germaine Gemberling. \nTheir last full-length record\, “Out There\,” was released in 2022\, followed by the 2024 single “Rendezvous With a Star” and 3-album set of solo acoustic versions from Mattson (“Spartan Tracks Vol. 1-3”). The group was invited to open for the mighty Built To Spill on a tour from Minneapolis to Pittsburgh. The new Northstars rhythm section of Chris Petrack (drums) and the young Calvin Lund (bass) were ready for action\, and the tour was a rocking success. \nOver the course of his long and illustrious career sprouting from the same teal backwater as Bob Dylan on northern Minnesota’s Iron Range\, Rich Mattson came up learning songs from John Denver to Van Halen with a little Elvis Costello and Neil Young tossed into the mix. Add in some heaping handfuls of U2\, the Replacements\, and CCR and blend until the ingredients come splattering in bits and pieces and you have around 500 tunes and this fella’s discography. \nNow residing in Sparta with his partner Germaine Gemberling\, the two have been writing\, recording\, and performing together since 2010. Their many albums have received rave reviews and high praise from the indie rock/americana/jangle-core crowd. The Northstars perform all around Minnesota and beyond and have been invited to share the stage with such notable acts as the Built To Spill\, Minus 5\, the Jayhawks\, Drivin’ and Cryin’\, and Trampled By Turtles. DESCRIPTION:Shagawa Shorty and the Greenstone Gals came together almost by accident. Shorty met Julie at a jam session at a friend’s house and they began playing together\, so Julie could learn the bass and Shorty could play tunes outside of his typical blues repertoire. \nNot long after\, Shorty saw Aurora perform with her sister at a local open mic. He was instantly smitten by her voice\, and said to himself\, “I wanna be that gal’s band!” So several weeks later\, with consent from Julie\, Shorty summoned his (admittedly minimal) courage and asked Aurora to play with them. (A seventy-year-old geezer approaching a much younger woman can always seem a bit questionable\, but intentions were honorable!) \nFortunately\, she said yes\, and Shorty and the Greenstone Gals were born. Their eclectic repertoire includes blues\, folk\, contemporary songwriters\, Americana\, Gospel\, and anything else they feel like playing. The best term they have been able to describe what they play is simply\, “American Music.” Their performances contain all of these elements; powerful tunes driven by Aurora’s amazing voice\, deep blues featuring Shorty’s slide playing\, and some songs needed for our times\, all anchored by Julie’s steady bass. \nShorty and the Gals will soon be playing in your neighborhood. Go see them to raise your pulse\, warm your heart\, and soothe your soul.
