Experience the sights, the history, and the technology behind Split Rock Lighthouse, a signature Minnesota landmark anchored on the rocky coast of Lake Superior. Join MNHS in commemorating the SS Edmund Fitzgerald each year on the anniversary of its sinking in Lake Superior. Share a moment of reflection as the lighthouse shines for the 29 mariners lost on that fateful day in 1975 — and all those who have perished on Lake Superior. Buildings/Grounds, Visitor Center/Museum Store, Fog Signal Building & Lighthouse open only during site hours. Free parking for Historic Site visitors during site hours only. A State Park vehicle permit is required during off hours.
