Art for Hire: Prints from the Minnesota WPA presents lithographs by Minnesota artists employed by the Works Progress Administration, 1933-43. Artists from all over the state participated, and received weekly paychecks to produce paintings, prints, murals, sculpture, and to teach classes and workshops.Free admission. Dec 1st- Jan 2nd: Bentleyville "Tour of Lights"
Time: Open daily from 5 pm-10 pm
Bentleyville “Tour of Lights” is coming to Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park. Santa will visit children every day from Saturday, November 28 – Wednesday December 23. Children 10 and younger will receive the Bentleyville Tour of Lights knit hat from Santa along with a bag of cookies. Free hot beverages and cookies will be served from the Cookie House, popcorn will be served free of charge from the Pop Corn Box and marshmallows can be picked up at the Marshmallow Hut and roasted at any one of 15 fire pits. The large venue at Bayfront Festival Park will allow for a grander light display, more fire pits for roasting marshmallows, a completely handicapped accessible display with more parking for the disabled. Regional music groups will perform every Friday & Saturday night from 7 pm – 9 pm. Bentleyville is made up of a volunteer based board of directors, staff and dedicated volunteers working year-round to plan and organize this spectacular holiday light display. So come join us and stroll through Bentleyville’s holiday light display at Bayfront Festival Park. Enjoy the sounds of the holiday season and watch the faces of children light up with excitement!

Continue a Mitchell Auditorium Christmas tradition with new selections from Katie McMahon. Katie hails from Dublin, Ireland and is best known as the "the Voice of Riverdance," with soaring soprano solos that were described as "poetry, perfection and purity." Katie is classically trained in voice and harp, but for the past 10 years she has specialized in traditional Irish music. As a fierce ice storms through northern Minnesota, seven-year-old Katy and her mother wait restlessly for her father's ship to return to their harbor in Duluth. "Storm Codes," winner of a northeastern Minnesota Book Award Honor, combines historically based illustrations with nautical terms and descriptions. Katy even creates her own secret code to help bring her father home safely. Following a reading by the author, children can make a paper sailor's flag. Now that there is snow on the ground, the animals at the Lake Superior Zoo are thoroughly enjoying our Minnesota winter! To help celebrate the weather, and the holiday season, the Zookeepers will be giving the brown bears a unique "gingerbread house" enrichment. The houses are being constructed with cardboard boxes checkered with saltine crackers and peanut butter, a “snowy” lard covered roof, and fruit and vegetables for decorations. Also on Saturday, at 12:30, the lions will explore a meat and lard decorated Christmas tree in their exhibit! Come join in the holiday festivities!
